BARRU, JurnalPost.com — The Barru Regency Government is opening opportunities to expand its partnership with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), particularly in the development of regional flagship products and the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The potential partnership was discussed during an audience between the Regent of Barru, Andi Ina Kartika Sari, and BSI leadership at the Regent's official residence on Wednesday (9/30/2026).

During the meeting, BSI expressed its commitment to strengthening synergy with the Barru Regency Government. Existing collaborations with the regional water utility company (PDAM) and local hospitals are planned to be expanded into several other potential economic sectors.

One area of focus is the development of pineapple-based products. This commodity is considered to have significant potential as a signature flagship product for Barru.

Processed products that could be developed include pineapple-based beverages, jams, and various other derivatives that hold higher economic value.

Through support from the banking sector, these local products are expected to grow not only in terms of production but also gain better access to business development, promotion, and marketing.

Consequently, MSME products from Barru will have the opportunity to reach wider markets, increasing added value for both the community and business owners.

Barru Regent Andi Ina Kartika Sari welcomed the plan to strengthen the partnership. She emphasized that collaboration between the local government and the banking sector must produce impacts that are directly felt by the community.

"This partnership is expected to go beyond service sectors and provide direct benefits to the community through the development of regional flagship products and MSMEs," said Andi Ina.

In addition to discussing the MSME sector, the meeting also addressed opportunities to enhance cooperation between BSI and hospitals in Barru Regency.

This collaboration is expected to support improved service quality while expanding the use of sharia banking services across various activities and transactions.

Andi Ina believes that collaboration between the local government, banks, the business world, and MSME players is a crucial component in strengthening the regional economy.

This cross-sector synergy is expected to create a more productive and sustainable business ecosystem while opening opportunities for Barru's local products to continue growing.

The audience was also attended by BSI Makassar ROX Deputy Funding Tengku Chandra Husnadi, Business Development Officer Ana Asrul, BSI Barru Branch Manager Muh. Syafri, and BSI Barru Funding and Transaction Representative Ardiansya.

Representing the Barru Regency Government, the meeting was attended by the Assistant II of the Regional Secretariat, the Head of the Cooperatives and SMEs Office, the Head of the Government Division, the Head of the Industry, Trade, and Manpower Office, the Head of the PMDPPKB Office, the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office, and the Head of the Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Division.
