Klaten, JurnalPost.com — Human resource (HR) development is a vital foundation for driving sustainable village progress. Beyond infrastructure development, improving the quality of the community through the enhancement of skills, knowledge, and personal development planning is essential to navigate various challenges.
These efforts were realized through a community service activity titled “Empowering Village Human Resources Through Human Capital Development Training and Individual Development Plan Preparation” which was held at the Ngolodono Village Hall, Karangdowo District, Klaten Regency, on Saturday (10/17/2026).
The activity focused on developing human capital through capacity-building training and the preparation of an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
Through this approach, HR strengthening is directed not only at increasing knowledge and skills but also at an individual's ability to recognize their potential, set goals, and systematically organize their personal development steps.
HR Development as a Foundation for Village Progress
Human resources play a crucial role in determining the direction of village development. Community potential—whether in the form of skills, experience, or individual capabilities—can become a strength in supporting village progress if developed optimally.
One approach that can be applied is Human Capital Development, which is the process of improving individual quality through the enhancement of competencies, knowledge, skills, and adaptability to change.
This approach positions the community as an important asset in development. With continuously evolving capacities, every individual is expected to be able to take on roles according to their abilities and potential.
HR development also requires the awareness that the learning process does not stop once a person masters a certain skill. Changing needs and challenges demand that every individual continuously update their abilities and adapt to environmental developments.
Recognizing Potential through Human Capital Development Training
One of the focuses of this community service activity was Human Capital Development Training, a training session that emphasizes the importance of recognizing one's own abilities as an initial step in human resource development.
Recognizing potential is fundamental because every individual possesses different strengths, skills, and development needs. Understanding these capabilities helps a person determine the direction of their competency improvement more accurately.
Through the human capital development approach, the community is encouraged to view the learning process as a continuous necessity rather than a fleeting activity.
Personal development also requires the ability to reflect and evaluate. By understanding their strengths and the aspects that still need improvement, individuals can set development priorities that align with their respective needs and goals.
This training also emphasized the importance of building a growth mindset, which is the awareness that abilities can be continuously improved through learning, experience, and consistent effort.
Drafting an Individual Development Plan to Design the Future
In addition to personal potential development, this activity highlighted the importance of drafting an Individual Development Plan (IDP) as an instrument for individual development planning.
An IDP is a personal development plan systematically structured to help someone set goals, identify competencies that need improvement, and determine concrete steps to achieve them.
Drafting such a plan is important because the personal development process requires clear direction and stages. Without planning, efforts to improve skills risk proceeding without priorities and are difficult to evaluate.
Through an IDP, individuals can map their current conditions and capabilities, set development targets, and choose activities that support the achievement of their goals.
Drafting an IDP can be done through several stages, starting from identifying potential and development needs, setting goals, selecting learning activities, determining timelines, to evaluating progress.
With structured planning, the personal development process is expected to become more directed, realistic, and periodically measurable.
Connecting Individual Development with Village Progress
Strengthening HR at the individual level is closely linked to village development. A community that can recognize its potential and has a clear development direction has the opportunity to make a greater contribution to its surrounding environment.
Through the community service activity in Ngolodono Village, human capital development was introduced as an approach to support the creation of a more competent and empowered society.
This development cannot be done instantly. It requires a continuous process that includes recognizing potential, increasing competence, setting goals, and evaluating individual progress.
As a space for community growth, the village has the opportunity to develop the quality of its human resources through learning and empowerment activities that align with the residents' needs.
In this context, drafting an individual development plan can be an initial step to help the community manage its potential more effectively while supporting village development efforts.
Steps Toward More Empowered Village Human Resources
The implementation of the community service activity at the Ngolodono Village Hall on October 17, 2026, served as a form of effort to increase awareness regarding the importance of human resource development.
Through Human Capital Development training and the introduction of Individual Development Planpreparation, this activity affirmed that every individual has potential that can be developed through proper learning, reflection, and planning.
Recognizing potential is the first step to understanding one's own abilities, while designing the future is an important part of determining the direction of development one wishes to achieve.
Ultimately, strengthening village HR is not only related to improving individual skills but also to building a community that is prepared to face changes and challenges.
Through sustainable human capital development and directed individual planning, the community of Ngolodono Village is expected to be increasingly capable of optimizing its potential to support future village progress.
