SLEMAN, JurnalPost.com — Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) at Yogyakarta State University (UNY) have developed digital promotional media by creating a documentary film titled Cageran Hamlet Profile. The work was created to introduce the agricultural, livestock, fishery, and tourism potential, as well as the social life of the community in Cageran Hamlet, Tamanmartani Village, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The program, carried out from August to September 2026, serves as a form of student service in assisting the community to document and promote their region's potential. The documentary has now been published on Instagram, making it accessible to the wider public.

Highlighting Local Economic and Tourism Potential

Cageran Hamlet possesses diverse potential developed through community activities. In the livestock sector, there is the Anggrek Mukti group, while agricultural activities are carried out by the Women Farmers Group (KWT). The area also holds fishery potential and various community-based economic activities.

In addition to the agricultural and livestock sectors, Cageran has tourism and cultural attractions, such as the hand-drawn batik tourism managed by the Anggrek Sekar Batik Group, the Jemparingan Pavilion, and the Cageran Edupark.

Despite having these various potentials, visual documentation introducing the wealth of the Cageran region remains limited. This condition prompted the UNY KKN students to present a profile video as a means of information, documentation, and digital promotion.

"Cageran's potential is very diverse, but it has not been well-documented. Through this video, we want the residents to have a medium to introduce Cageran to more people," said Syurahbil Muhbit.

Through the video, the students strive to present a comprehensive overview of Cageran Hamlet, ranging from its geographical conditions and community economic activities to the social and cultural activities that are part of the residents' daily lives.

Production Process Involves the Community

The production of the documentary was carried out in four stages: pre-production, production, post-production, and validation and publication.

In the initial stage, students conducted direct observations to recognize the characteristics of the area. They also interviewed the Hamlet Head, village officials, and several residents to gather information regarding the history, potential, and various activities of the Cageran community.

After the data collection process, the team proceeded to film using mobile phones and drones. The use of drones allowed the students to record the conditions of the settlements and the Cageran environment from the air, while ground-level filming focused on community activities and various superior regional potentials.

All recorded footage was then processed using DaVinci Resolve software. During the editing stage, the students added narration, text information, and background music to make the video easier to understand and engaging to watch.

Not only did they produce a profile video, but the students also documented various resident activities during their service period. The results of this documentation were also screened at the KKN farewell event with the local community.

Received Appreciation from the Hamlet Government

The implementation of this program involved the hamlet government from the planning stage to the completion of the video. The support provided included permits, the provision of information, input on the material, and review of the documentation results.

Before being published, the video was submitted to the Head of Cageran Hamlet, Okky Linggarjati, to obtain input and validation. Once declared suitable, the video was then uploaded via the KKN Instagram account @martaniikarsa and the official Cageran Hamlet account @padukuhan.cageran.

Okky Linggarjati expressed his appreciation for the contribution of the UNY students who have helped the community introduce the region's potential through digital media.

"We highly appreciate the initiative and collaborative work of the UNY KKN students," he said.

The presence of this documentary is expected to not only serve as a memento of the KKN activities but also be utilized by the community as a visual archive and promotional material to introduce Cageran Hamlet to a wider audience.

Supporting the Achievement of Three SDGs

The program to create the Cageran Hamlet Profile documentary also has links to three sustainable development goals or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 8, SDG 11, and SDG 17.

Through the introduction of various business potentials and community economic activities, this program supports the achievement of SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Video publication can be a means to increase exposure for local businesses, although the economic impact still requires further measurement.

Meanwhile, the documentation of regional conditions, culture, and community life relates to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly in efforts to maintain identity and document local potential.

The collaboration between students, the hamlet government, and the community reflects the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Moving forward, the documentation results have the potential to be developed into more specific thematic video content, such as introductions to livestock groups, the process of making hand-drawn batik, and educational tourism activities in Cageran.

Evaluations of view counts, audience reach, and community interaction can also be conducted to determine the effectiveness of the video as a digital promotional medium.

Through this program, UNY KKN students have not only produced an audiovisual work but also contributed a documentation medium that can be utilized by the Cageran Hamlet community in a sustainable manner.

The documentary Cageran Hamlet Profile can be viewed via the Instagram accounts @martaniikarsa and @padukuhan.cageran.
