Semarang, JurnalPost.com — Hundreds of young people from various running communities in Semarang crowded the Tugu Muda area on Saturday (10/17/2026) afternoon. They gathered not just to exercise, but also to explore several historic areas through the Road to Rawa Pening Heritage Run (RRH) 2026event.
The activity, initiated by the JAWARA Run community, combines running with efforts to introduce the historical and cultural heritage of Semarang to the younger generation.
Taking a five-kilometer route, participants were invited to pass by several icons of the 'City of Atlas,' starting from the Tugu Muda area, Lawang Sewu, and the Mandala Bhakti Museum, to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque area in Simpang Lima, Semarang.
Unlike running events oriented toward achieving the fastest times, this event emphasizes togetherness, a healthy lifestyle, and the experience of enjoying the city atmosphere from a different perspective.
Chairman of the JAWARA Run community, Bayu Setya, stated that sports can be a means to bring the younger generation closer to the history and identity of their region.
"We believe a strong generation is not only physically healthy but also familiar with its history and identity. Through sports, we want to encourage young people to keep moving forward without forgetting the cultural roots that shape us," said Bayu on the sidelines of the event.
According to him, activities like this also open up meeting spaces for various communities that have an interest in sports, history, and social activities.
Warm-up Toward the Rawa Pening Heritage Run November 2026
The activity in Semarang is part of a series of preparations for the main Rawa Pening Heritage Run 2026 event, which is scheduled to take place this coming November.
The event is designed to bring together running with the potential for tourism, culture, and the creative economy in Central Java.

Through the concept of sport tourism, the organizers hope that the running event will not only attract sports enthusiasts but also encourage the public to discover tourist destinations and the region's cultural wealth.
Race Director of RRH 2026, Arief H., explained that various technical aspects of the organization are being prepared to ensure the main event can take place safely and comfortably for participants.
These preparations include route measurement, the provision of participant equipment or race packs, and the arrangement of security systems during the race.
"From route measurement and race pack readiness to the race security system, we are preparing everything with precision. The hope is that the Rawa Pening Heritage Run provides a memorable running experience with the best organizational standards," said Arief.
The organizers also pay attention to the participants' experience during the event. In addition to safety aspects, the atmosphere and characteristics of the areas passed are important parts of providing a unique running experience.
Boosting Local Tourism and Creative Economy
Beyond introducing a healthy lifestyle, the Rawa Pening Heritage Run 2026 is expected to provide benefits to the community and local business owners.
Sports activities involving many participants have the potential to open opportunities for the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, culinary businesses, transportation, and tourism services.
Bayu Setya believes that the involvement of various parties is an important factor so that the benefits of the event do not end on the day of implementation.
According to him, cooperation between sports communities, business owners, associations, and local government is needed to build a sustainable event.
"Collaboration is key. When sports, tourism, and the creative economy unite, new economic opportunities will emerge that are directly felt by the surrounding community," concluded Bayu.
Through the Road to Rawa Pening Heritage Run 2026 series, the JAWARA Run community wants to show that sports activities can be a gateway to introducing regional potential more broadly.
The enthusiasm of the hundreds of participants in the Tugu Muda area of Semarang illustrates how running is increasingly developing as a social activity that brings together people from various backgrounds.
By combining physical activity and historical introduction, this event is expected to encourage the younger generation to continue adopting a healthy lifestyle while increasing awareness of regional cultural heritage.
The series of activities also serves as an initial step toward the Rawa Pening Heritage Run 2026 this November, which is expected to provide a sporting experience while introducing the tourism potential of Central Java.
