SURABAYA, JurnalPost.com — For Faculty of Law students, understanding the law goes beyond attending lectures and reading legislation. Internships provide a unique opportunity to observe firsthand how legal principles are applied in the professional world. This is the experience I gained during my internship at PT Kami Wahana Nusantara, a company specializing in airline and sea travel ticket sales in the North Perak area of Surabaya.

PT Kami Wahana Nusantara, led by Ms. Umi Susanti, is located at Jalan Kalimas Baru No. 194 A, North Perak, Pabean Cantian, Surabaya. Given its location in the Tanjung Perak area, the company frequently serves the high demand for sea travel ticket bookings.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to gain a closer look at consumer service processes. This ranged from ticket booking, passenger identity verification, and data matching to providing information on departure schedules, pricing, and travel terms and conditions.

Simple tasks, such as ensuring the accuracy of passenger names and data, play a crucial role. Errors in data entry can cause significant issues for consumers when they travel. Consequently, I learned that meticulousness in administrative processes is a vital skill in a professional environment.

Beyond administration, I observed how the company interacts directly with consumers. Every customer has different needs and concerns, whether they are seeking information on departure schedules, rescheduling, ticket cancellations, or refund processes. In these situations, clear communication between the company and the consumer is essential for providing quality service.

From this experience, I realized as a law student that the relationship between business operators and consumers involves more than just service transactions. It encompasses the rights and obligations of both parties that must be upheld. Business operators are obligated to provide accurate information and services in accordance with regulations, while consumers must provide correct data and understand the terms of the tickets they purchase.

This internship also provided insight into how legal aspects are deeply embedded in daily activities. Ticket booking transactions, payments, providing information to consumers, and resolving travel issues are all examples of legal relationships that can be observed directly in business operations.

For me, as a student at the Faculty of Law, University of 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, this experience offered lessons that differ from those gained in the classroom. I learned that legal knowledge must be balanced with communication skills, professional diligence, and the ability to understand the needs of the public.

Through my internship at PT Kami Wahana Nusantara, I not only gained professional experience but also a real-world perspective on the application of law in the relationship between business operators and consumers. This experience serves as an important foundation for law students to understand that legal science plays a role in various societal activities, including travel services.
